Exit – Servants Entrance

About nine years ago or so a pastor and a good friend Mel Ramos placed exit signs at all of the exits at our church that read “Servants Entrance.” So as you left the building and looked up you were reminded that as you left the warmth and friendliness of our church you were headed out into the world as a servant. I am ever so thankful for Mel’s thoughtfulness with those signs. That simple act left a profound impression on all those people who attended that church. That had such an impact that, as we ended up merging with another church, that new church were SO impressd at our commitment to service. Mel, if you ever read this know that you are so loved by many and we all know that where ever you go, you will have an impact with every thing and every one that you encounter.

On October 19th Twin Oaks Church where I attend is moving our service out into the street by participating in the Silicon Valley AIDS Walk. I am so humbled to know and work with the elders and pastor of our church, a wonderful group of servers who are not afraid to “Walk” the talk.

Taking the Plunge

So this is my plunge into the wonderful world of blogging. I am not so sure about where this is going to lead me but I have taken the first step. Now, as to how many more steps there will be and the frequency of those steps still remains to be seen.

Today finds me wrapping up a typical week. Just going over all of the tasks I have completed, the tasks I have yet to begin, and those tasks on next weeks horizon. I do know that next week will be a bit busier than normal because I am gettng ready to take two consecutive weeks off. Haven’t done that in ages. Starting on October 20th I am planning on doing a whole bunch of nothing or whatever my wife wants me to do, whichever comes first. The following week we are heading out on a short cruise out of San Diego down to Cabo. We fly down to San Diego on Saturday, spend a couple of days around San Diego. We might get a chance to see Ana and kids on Sunday so that will be great. Then we head out on Monday for the cruise and return on Friday, just in time to see some of the grandkids all dressed up in their Halloween costumes. We are looking forward to a great time together.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
